Norton Rose Fulbright Appoints Corporate and Equity Capital Markets Partner in Hong Kong

Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright has today announced the appointment of Terence Lau as a corporate and equity capital markets partner in its Hong Kong office.

Terence has 19 years’ experience working as a lawyer in Hong Kong and joins from Hogan Lovells where he has been a partner since 2008. Terence’s practice includes equity offerings, IPOs, M&A, private equity, share repurchases and regulatory and compliance matters. He also works on joint ventures and schemes of arrangement.

He joins the existing team of 12 corporate partners in Norton Rose Fulbright’s Hong Kong office, bringing the number of corporate partners to 13. His appointment follows the appointment of David Johnson in March, and the promotions of James Parker and Allan Yee in May. The total number of partners in the Hong Kong office is now 23.

Phillip John, Head of North Asia, Norton Rose Fulbright commented:

“Terence is a senior and leading practitioner in the Hong Kong market and will make an excellent addition to the existing capital markets and corporate team. We have a market-leading practice that is incredibly busy. Terence’s practice is a perfect fit with ours, and his experience will enable us to continue to expand our offering to clients in the Hong Kong market.”

Terence’s appointment also follows the news that Norton Rose Fulbright took first place in the Asia league table of legal advisors to managers in equity capital markets for the first half of 2015 in the latest Thomson Reuters Global Capital Markets Review. The table shows Norton Rose Fulbright advised on 12 deals in the first half of 2015.

Terence Lau commented:

“Norton Rose Fulbright has one of the largest and best-resourced corporate practices in Hong Kong and I am looking forward to working with the team to continue to offer clients the level of support they need and demand.”

Terence is ranked as a leading individual in Chambers Asia Pacific, which reports that he “is “very hands-on” and “very attentive to detail,” say admiring clients, “he thinks ten steps ahead.”
