Pinsent Masons bolsters Asia Pacific offices with three new appointments

International Law Firm Pinsent Masons has announced three new Intellectual Property, Construction, and Projects appointments to its Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong offices.

Jenny Luo, a specialist in intellectual property, is joining the Shanghai office as a Senior Associate, and Helen Waddell, Counsel, is becoming part of the Construction team at the firm’s Singapore base.  Additionally, Kate Terry has been appointed as an Associate within the Projects team in Hong Kong.

Jenny Luo joins from Rouse & Co. International in Beijing, where she held the role of International Patent Attorney, having previously been at Hogan & Hartson’s in Shanghai.  With nearly twenty years of education and experience in the USA, her background covers the life sciences sector in patent prosecution, litigation and transactions.  She will join Partner Dr Kening Li in the Pinsent Masons Shanghai office as part of the firm’s thriving China Intellectual Property team, which is now four people strong.

Helen Waddell joins from the Pinsent Masons’ construction team in London.  Helen has over fifteen years’ experience in a broad range of contentious and non-contentious construction matters, and chairs the firm’s Sports & Stadia Group. Helen will join the growing Pinsent Masons MPillay Joint Law Venture in Singapore.  Helen’s appointment comes just a short time after the arrival of Project Finance Partner David Platt, who joined the firm in Singapore from Shearman & Sterling in September.

Kate Terry joins Pinsent Masons from the role of in-house counsel for Anglo American based in London, where she gained extensive experience in large mining projects, M&A and commercial work.  Kate is an Associate, and is the latest addition to Pinsent Masons’ Asia projects and energy team.

Vincent Connor, Pinsent Masons Head of Asia Pacific commented:

“These three exciting appointments signal Pinsent Masons’ ever-growing commitment to the Asia Pacific region.  As our clients continue to invest and develop in Asia, we in turn have seen lots of growth in the region with our fee earner numbers increasing by 15% over the past year.”
