Prominent Investment Funds Lawyer Han Ming Ho First to Join Sidley Austin LLP Since its Receipt of QFLP License

Sidley Austin LLP has announced that Han Ming Ho, who is recognized as one of Asia’s leading international funds lawyers, will join the firm’s Singapore office as a partner. Mr. Ho will serve as co-head of the Asia Investment Funds practice together with Effie Vasilopoulos, a Sidley partner based in the firm’s Hong Kong office.

Mr. Ho will be the first Singapore law-qualified lawyer to join Sidley since the firm was awarded a Qualifying Foreign Law Practice (QFLP) license enabling it to provide local law advice in Singapore. Given Sidley’s renowned investment funds practice in the U.S., Asia and Europe, Mr. Ho will be able to expand his own practice on a leading global platform that offers exceptional strength in the Asian and U.S. markets. Mr. Ho has extensive experience counseling clients on the structuring and formation of a broad range of investment funds, including hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, exchange traded funds and other structured financial products. He has advised leading fund sponsors and managers, investment banks, financial institutions, venture capitalists and institutional investors. He is recognized as an authority in the Singapore funds market and is ranked as a Band One leading lawyer by Chambers Asia Pacific.

“Given the increasing internationalization of our clients’ business activities and the growing importance of Singapore as a fund management hub in the region, Han Ming is a most valuable addition to our internationally recognized global investment funds practice,” said Ms. Vasilopoulos. “With Han Ming’s ability to provide clients with local law advice in Singapore, we will now be able to offer a full suite of comprehensive law services to our fund manager clients looking to access Asian markets and investors.”

“We are delighted that Han Ming will be joining our team of talented Asia-based lawyers,” said Thomas Albrecht, Managing Partner for Sidley, Asia Pacific. “His broad experience and stellar reputation for client service will further consolidate the Firm’s position as the region’s leading international investment funds practice offering U.S., Hong Kong, English, Japanese, and now Singapore law advice to our international funds clients throughout much of the Asia Pacific region.”
