DLA Phillips Fox Perth Office Move Accommodates Growth in WA

Leading Australian business law firm DLA Phillips Fox has relocated to new premises in Perth, taking levels 30 and 31 of Central Park on St Georges Terrace. This reflects strong growth for the firm and an active WA economy.

DLA Phillips Fox appointed Woods Bagot to design the 2,600 sqm, 100-head, grade A space, which houses 84 current staff and accommodates up to 16 additional positions.

Allan Drake-Brockman, Office Leader and Partner at DLA Phillips Fox, said the move reflects the direction of the Perth office and the firm in general. ‘The Perth office has experienced strong growth this year. We’ve continued to support our local, domestic and international clients in achieving their commercial objectives. Our clients are from all sectors of the economy, including the mining, energy and resources sector that are currently experiencing an unparalleled volume of activity.

‘Perth is Australia’s hub for international trade, in particular with Asia and Africa, and our office is particularly well positioned given the firm’s international alliance with the law firm, DLA Piper, which has a strong presence in China, Japan and Africa.

The future in Perth looks bright. Businesses are handling this post-GFC rise in activity very differently, but we’re here to assist them,’ he said.

Grant Boshard, Principal, Woods Bagot, said that the design reflects a high quality corporate interior whilst also including appropriate public spaces and high performance workspaces, all geared at promoting the near and long term success of the firm in the local market.

‘We were provided with a list of specific requirements for the space that tended to focus around increasing the efficiency of the usage of space and facilities, yet also keeping it sleek and stylish,’ he said.

The new fit out has been designed to take advantage of the sweeping views across the city. Key features include a staff club space, document library and a custom made corian reception desk that sculpturally wraps around the receptionist and creates two separate waiting areas.

‘The new fit out is high profile A grade space, and ultimately has been designed to enhance efficiency and encourage better use of resources,’ he continued.

DLA Phillips Fox takes up residency at the new office accommodation from 20 December 2010.
