Orrick Continues Asia Expansion with Vietnam Association

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announced today that it will form an alliance with LVN & Associates, a newly established law firm based in Hanoi, Vietnam.

LVN & Associates founding partner Linh Qyunh Doan is a highly recognized Vietnamese lawyer who most recently practiced in Orrick’s Hong Kong office. Ms. Doan has advised on Vietnam legal matters, foreign investments, project finance and international trade for over 10 years.  She has represented multinational companies in their inbound investments in Vietnam, as well as leading Vietnamese companies and governmental entities in various infrastructure, energy, investment and international trade matters.

Orrick’s association with LVN & Associates will provide clients with integrated international and Vietnam law services, combining Orrick’s international practice with high quality Vietnam legal advice across a range of major areas, including cross-border investment, energy, infrastructure, finance, capital markets, dispute resolution, intellectual property, investment funds and real estate.

With a population of nearly 90 million and annual growth targeted at 8%, Vietnam is among the brightest economies in Southeast Asia.  Orrick’s Senior Partner in Asia, Christopher Stephens, explained: “Vietnam is the most dynamic emerging market in Southeast Asia. We have been involved in Vietnam-related work since the late 1990s.  Recently, our clients have come to include investors from China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan and elsewhere in Asia, as well as the traditional U.S. and European multinationals and institutions.  Our association with LVN & Associates is a natural extension of our strategy to better position our practices for the increasing levels of inter-regional investment flows within Asia.”

He added: “With additional support from our five Asia offices and our European and North American network, we are confident that Orrick’s well established Vietnam practice together with Linh Doan’s market reputation and experience will enable us to extend the reach of our infrastructure projects and investment practices, as well as provide a solid platform for clients in all aspects of their Vietnam-related transactions.”

Doan Quynh Linh said: “We are thrilled to be back on-the-ground in Vietnam. The combination of our in-depth experience in Vietnam with Orrick’s global resources and continuing support, establishes one of the strongest platforms in the world for Vietnam-related work. It also shows our long term strategic commitment to Vietnam.”
