King & Wood Mallesons Advises Keppel on Cross-Border Commercial Real Estate Investment

King & Wood Mallesons has acted for Singapore’s Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation, a leading logistics and high-availability data centre provider, on its entry into the Australian market through a joint venture investment with the Brisbane based data communications services provider, iseek Communications.

The joint venture will manage the Gore Hill Data Centre Facility in Gore Hill, Sydney, Australia.

The King & Wood Mallesons team included Senior Associate, and real estate capital markets specialist, Mark Bayliss and Solicitor, Andrew Cork.

The transaction continues the strong flow of cross-border investment into Australian real estate assets by foreign investment managers and sponsors on which King & Wood Mallesons has advised.

Mr Bayliss said “We were delighted to be able to support Keppel on its entry into the Australian market, and to lend our market-leading expertise in the structuring and execution of inbound investment into Australian real estate. Keppel’s investment is an example of the emergence of Australian data centre facilities as a specialised class of real estate asset attracting institutional investment, in part driven by the NBN.”

King & Wood Mallesons has advised a number of leading global and Asia focussed real estate managers and sponsors, including Securus Data Property Fund Pte. Ltd , CLSA Capital Partners, LaSalle Investment Management and Pramerica Real Estate Investors, on their recent inbound investments into the Australian real estate sector.
