Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Howard Lam has joined the firm’s Hong Kong office as a partner in the Finance Department. Lam’s practice focuses on banking, cross-border debt restructuring and insolvency work, and complex financing transactions. Lam has advised banks, private equity funds and corporates in Hong Kong and mainland China on high profile financings and restructurings across Asia and Europe.
Lam has extensive experience advising on a broad range of finance and insolvency matters, including leveraged acquisition financings, onshore/offshore syndicated loans, China outbound cross-border financings, pre-IPO financings, margin financings, debt capital market issuance, and bank/bondholders led debt restructurings and liquidations. He has practiced in both Hong Kong and London where he has gained significant cross-border experience.

Lam joins Latham & Watkins from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Hong Kong. He received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales in 1995, a Graduate Diploma in Law from Nottingham Trent University (BPP Law School) in 1996, PCLL and Master of Laws from the University of Hong Kong in 1997 and 2001 respectively and a Professional Certificate in Chinese Civil & Commercial Law from Tsinghua University in Beijing in 2005.
