International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised Vallar on its $3bn cash and shares purchase of 25% of PT Bumi Resources Tbk and 75% of PT Berau Coal Energy Tbk, two of Indonesia’s largest coal mining companies.
The deal is expected to complete no later than April 2011. Vallar will be renamed Bumi PLC.
The Freshfields team advising Vallar on the deal was led by corporate partner Julian Makin assisted by fellow corporate partners Ben Spiers, Stephen Hewes and Claire Wills. They were supported by senior associates Alison Smith and Natascha Doll and associate Tim Redman.
